This hue is inspired by the bold yellow petals of the sunflower, a plant whose young buds track the sun in a behavior known as heliotropism. Once mature, sunflowers settle into facing east, abandoning their sun-following dance to catch the warming rays of dawn. Their color comes from carotenoids, particularly xanthophylls and beta-carotene, the same pigments found in carrots and corn, giving sunflowers their iconic golden glow.
