Pink Mimosa Tree

October 25, 2025

This hue is inspired by the pink blossoms of the mimosa tree (Albizia julibrissin), also known as the silk tree. Native to Asia and introduced to the West in the 18th century, the tree is celebrated for its feathery, powder-puff blooms that appear in late spring through summer. Each flower’s pink hue comes from fine, filament-like stamens that radiate from a pale base, giving the appearance of soft silk threads. When massed together, the blossoms create a hazy canopy of pink that shimmers against their fern-like green foliage. The color evokes early summer mornings and the gentle, dreamlike quality of warm air scented with honeyed perfume.
