Puzzle #42

Clementine

July 23, 2025

This hue is inspired by the juicy orange flesh of the clementine, a small citrus fruit prized for its sweetness and ease of eating. Its color comes from carotenoids that intensify as the fruit ripens, producing a bright, glowing orange that feels as sunny as its flavor. Named after French missionary Brother Clément Rodier, who first propagated it in Algeria, the clementine is a hybrid of mandarin and sweet orange. It quickly became a cold-season favorite for its seedless segments and candy-like taste.
